When the French Clock Off at 6:00 pm, They Really Mean It

　　Just in case you weren't jealous enough of the French already, with their effortless style, lovely accents, and collective will to calorie control, they have now just banned bosses from bothering them once the working day is done.

　　Well, sort of. A recent pact reduces the ability of bosses to invade their employees' home lives via smartphone at any hour of the day or night. Now employers' federations and unions have signed a new, legally binding labor agreement that will require employers to make sure they don't contact their staff outside of working hours. Under the deal, which affects around 250,000 employees in the technology and consultancy sectors, employees will also have to resist the temptation to look at work-related material on their computers.

Foxconn Is Quietly Working with Google on Robotics

　　Foxconn has long been associated as the partner for Apple, assembling the majority of the US company's iPhones and iPads. Few people know the Taiwanese contract manufacturer, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, has been quietly working with Google. People familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal that Foxconn has been working with former Android executive Andy Rubin since last year to carry out the US company's vision for robotics.

　　To speed up robot deployment at its own factories, Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou met with Rubin in Taipei recently as they discussed new robotic technologies. At the meeting, Gou expressed excitement over new automation technologies demonstrated by Rubin. Rubin also asked Gou to help integrate another technology company that Google is acquiring as Foxconn's strength lies in mechanical engineering.

 

富士康与谷歌合作发展机器人技术

　　富士康长久以来都被视为苹果公司的合伙人，其负责组装这家美国公司大部份的 iPhone 和 iPad。鲜少有人知道这家也以鸿海精密工业之名而为人所知的台湾代工厂已经默默地与谷歌合作。知情人士向《华尔街日报》透露，富士康从去年开始就一直与 Android 的前任执行长安迪‧鲁宾合作来实现该美国公司对机器人技术的展望。

　　富士康的董事长郭台铭为了加速自家工厂的机器人部署，他在最近与罗宾在台北会面并讨论新的机器人科技。在该次会面当中，郭台铭表现出他对于罗宾所展示的新型自动化科技的兴奋之情。由于富士康的优势在于机械工程，因此罗宾也要求郭台铭协助与另一家谷歌正在收购的科技公司合并。
