Japan Marks Fukushima Disaster Anniversary

　　Japan marked the third anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami disaster which swept away 18,000 victims, destroyed coastal communities, and sparked a nuclear emergency that forced the world to rethink atomic power. Remembrance ceremonies were held in towns and cities around the disaster zone and in the capital Tokyo, where Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko led tributes to those who lost their lives in Japan's worst peacetime disaster. On the day of the anniversary, many local governments switched on a tsunami alarm siren at 2:46 PM, marking the exact moment the 9.0 magnitude undersea earthquake hit. Its raw force unleashed a towering tsunami that travelled at the speed of a jet plane to the coast. Within minutes, communities were turned to matchwood, and whole families had drowned. Waves also crashed into the Fukushima nuclear plant, sparking reactor meltdowns and explosions, and setting off the worst atomic crisis in a generation.

Cancer Patient with More Than 70 Tumors in Remission after Testing New Miracle Drug

　　A terminally ill cancer patient, who was given just weeks to live, has stunned doctors after a new miracle drug, previously only tested in America, helped to make more than 70 potentially fatal tumors disappear. Ian Brooks was running out of treatment options for a rare and very aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. His body was riddled with tumors and doctors had given him just a few weeks to live. In a last ditch attempt, the 47-year-old decided to try a new drug, which claimed to destroy cells from the inside. Consultants at The Christie Hospital in Manchester were stunned when they looked at his scan just two weeks after his treatment and found it was completely clear of tumors.
